So I just had a random idea for this. Starlight wakes up on April 1st to see Twilight with her staff and an equal mark on her flank, but in her tiredness of having just woken up results in her failing to realize that Twilight has her makeup kit and equal mark stencil and that the cutie mark attached to the staff is just a paper cutout tied to it.
