Emerald finds the nearest chair he can and opens up the book about the monsters of the Zebralands.
There are plenty of rare beasts of legend, and Emerald reads about the Grootslang, a southern zebraland species of snake that can grow up to 60 feet long, a semi-incorporeal creature called the ghost ape or the Bili Ape, and the Mokèlé-mbèmbé, which apparently some sort of modern dinosaur.
He also reads about more common monstrous creatures, such as the "hond moordenaar", which is apparently some cross of an arachnid and dog that lives near the mountainous regions, a creatures very similar to a chimera called a "gif stert" that breathes poison smog, and a variety of slime that hides among plant foliage for unsuspecting prey.
Emerald also finds an entry on the Giant Wasps that Joyride was speaking about.
—-
Hideous, winged, four legged creatures with yellow and black banded bodies, compound eyes, and incredibly poisonous stingers. The danger of their bodies only matched by their savage cunning.
They often build nests on the borders of the dense zebra jungles where they can partake of the giant flowers of the forest as well as the numerous but much smaller plants of the Savannah. If they spot a pony sized or larger creature they will often attempt to bring it back to their hives for a currently unknown purpose.
These dastardly creatures share much in common with the siren, in that though they are completely capable of subduing and dragging a creature to it's doom, they have the ability to hypnotically coerce creatures to their doom.
