(1000 Colt Quest image on DB! Woot!! -Psker)

Emerald wonders if it's because he is anti-magic that he can't cast the shield on himself.

Emerald picks up a rock and tosses it in the air, trying to cast the spell on that, but it's moving a bit too quick for him to focus on it.

The colt gets an idea. Going back down the trapdoor Emerald asks the chimera if she'll help him practice a spell. She shrugs, and follows Emerald back out into the clearing.

Emerald tries casting the spell on her. It flickers on her for a second, but dissolves away, startling the colt. Emerald tries it a few more times, but every time it disappears. Emerald asks if she can scrunch up a bit, and when she does he tries casting it again, and this time the shield actually holds up.

Emerald wonders if he can be inside the shield even if it isn't focused on him, and gets up close to Lady Elegance to find out.

Luckily it seems to work.
