The heir to the night, Elara is considered the more approachable of the two royal children of Canterlot, being the calm and quiet force to Hullabaloo's energetic antics. Unlike her cousin, Elara is content with the relative peace and quiet that living in the captial of Equestria offers, and is rarely seen outside of the city. Like her mother Luna, Elara is able to enter others' dreams, though unlike her cannot directly interact with the dreamscape, only being able to observe. She uses this ability to act like a therapist of sorts, helping ponies terrorized by nightmares to figure out why exactly they happen and how to mold them into something more pleasant. Despite her line of work, she herself suffers from night terrors and thus spends most nights staring melancholically towards the starry skies above, and as a result gets very little sleep. She's managed to keep this a secret from her mother, as she doesn't want her to worry.
Like her mother Moondancer, Elara is awkward in social interactions, unsure how to act around others and afriad if she acts the way she's most comfortable acting others won't like her, and so she's created a very carefully mantained facade of the perfect little princess she thinks she should be, except towards those she's managed to become close to. Her mothers tell her to just be herself but she doesn't see the point in being herself if she doesn't even like herself all that much. She also tends to be extremely judgemental of others' flaws, even if they're flaws she herself suffers from, though she manages to keep most of these thoughts to herself.

Relationships
Hullabaloo and Skyla are the two ponies that Elara considers to get her, so to speak, what with them all being royalty and expected to act like it by outsiders. Even if she's annoyed at times with Hullabaloo's chaos and Skyla's vanity, she couldn't ask for better friends. She's able to see Hullabaloo everyday since they live in the same castle, but it's harder for her and Skyla to meet up since she lives all the way in the Crystal Empire. So she usually hitches a ride using Hullabaloo's teleportation powers whenever she knows he's heading over there for whatever reason.
Simply put, Elara has it really really bad for Theia, the daughter of the princesses of friendship. Everyone and their dog knows about this crush, except for Theia herself, and Elara doesn't want to jeopardize their friendship by pursuing a possible romance. Her mothers are completely supportive of it, even with Theia being the daughter of the mare that both of them loved at one point. Hullabaloo has made it his life mission to get the two unicorns together, and unaware to both of them, there's a certain orange earth pony trying to do the same…

Talent
Elara's cutie mark is of a winged moon, and she has no clue what it's supposed to mean, asides from being a reminder that she isn't an alicorn and her cutie mark's wings are the only wings she has. The CMC considers discovering Elara's cutie mark's meaning to be their main pet project.
