Bedlam: barges into Fluttershy's room "Dad! I got your message! What's wrong?"

(She finds Discord hunched over Fluttershy's bed, with tear stains on his face)

Bedlam: "Mom?? No…"

Fluttershy: (weakly) "Discord, can I have some time alone with Bedlam?"

Discord: "B-but Fluttershy"

Fluttershy: softly glares at Discord

Discord: chokes on a sob "Y-yes, my dearest…" reluctantly leaves the room

Bedlam: stares in shock as she processes what's happening

Fluttershy: "Betty, come over."

Bedlam: approaches Fluttershy "M-Mom, t-this can't be happening…"

Fluttershy: "I know, Betty. We all knew this day was coming…" coughs "…but death is but the next great adventure, isn't it?"

Bedlam: starts tearing up and grabs Fluttershy's hoof "T-there has to be a way to stop this! D-Dad and I can"

Fluttershy: "No, Betty, please don't. I've lived a full life. Nature is running its course."

Bedlam: "B-but what about Dad? What about me?? This isn't natural for us!" choked sobs

Fluttershy: "Shhh…I know, Betty…"

Bedlam: "And my whole life I've been such a jerk to you! I can't let it end like this, not without making it up!"

Fluttershy: "Bedlam Chaos Shy, you were never a jerk!" coughs "You were being yourself and I'm proud of that!"

Bedlam: "Yes, my stupid, twisted, chaotic self…" sniffs "I-I should've been more like you, then I wouldn't have been such a failure as a daughter…"

Fluttershy: "Please, never say that! I don't want you to be like me, I want you to be you. I have loved you your whole life and I wouldn't change a thing. I should have let you know that sooner."

Bedlam: "B-but Mom! It's not your fault, I should've been better! You're the best and kindest mom ever!"

Fluttershy: "Thank you, sweetie. But I wasn't a perfect mother. I should have made more of an effort to relate to you, to make you feel appreciated, like your father did."
Bedlam: "D-don't say that!"

Fluttershy: "Nopony's perfect, Betty. But we learn from our experiences, right? Now it's your turn; learn new things and make new memories for me. You have a whole life ahead of you."

Bedlam: sobs "Mom, you can't…"

Fluttershy: "Shhh…." coughs "Betty, never stop being yourself…never stop being lively, adventurous, and independent. Hold your friends close…Burge, the kids, and everyone else you meet along the way. Take care of your father, he'll need it…" coughs (weakly) "And always remember how much I love you…"

(Fluttershy lays back, closes her eyes, and softly exhales for the last time. She is dead.)
Bedlam: "M-mom…" sobs
