When Sci-Twi met Timber Spruce at Camp Everfree, she felt an instant connection. She found him cute, but he was also intelligent, funny, and someone she could carry an engaging conversation with. After the Crystal Gala dance, Twi went on the date they'd promised and the two hit it off from there.
Over the next few months, Twi and Timber continued going out on dates and becoming closer. They even considered "experimenting" with their bodies, but Twi decided against it and Timber respected that. Twi later graduated from CHS and went off to college. She and Timber put their relationship on hold, but they kept in touch.
Meanwhile, as Sunset Shimmer watched her friend fall deeper in love, she couldn't shake the feeling that perhaps this wasn't right. They were happy together and had a good dynamic, but something felt…off. Maybe it was the age difference, she couldn't put her finger on it. Sunset later realized that she had a crush on Twi, so she chalked her uneasiness up to selfishness and tried to put her full support behind the couple.
After Twi graduated from college, she and Timber resumed their relationship. Four years had changed both of them, but they wanted to make it work. They went on like this for about a year or so. Twi had been planning to continue her schooling in hopes of getting a doctorate and becoming a professor, but that all changed when Timber proposed to her. They got married and Sunset was Twi's maid of honor.
After a couple years, Timber and Twi decided they wanted a baby. Nine months later, their daughter Softwood was born. Little Softwood loved both of her parents, but she was especially fond of her daddy. Indeed, they were a very loving family.
After the newness of their family had worn off, things between Timber and Twi became tense. They started nitpicking at each other's flaws and Timber spent many nights out late. They had good times keeping them together, but things weren't the same.
Sunset could tell Twi and Timber weren't as happy. She wanted to say something, but she accused herself of being blinded by jealousy and chose to stay out of it. That changed one day when she was out doing late-night errands. She spotted a familiar green-haired man drive up to a house and walk in with an unfamiliar woman. Knowing that nobody should be disloyal to their partner, she alerted Twi about the matter.
Not long afterwards, Twi started searching through Timber's phone and found that he was talking to an unknown, younger woman the same way he had talked to her. Enraged and heartbroken, she confronted Timber and they got into a huge argument. He insisted it was a misunderstanding, but she would hear none of it. Timber eventually had enough of arguing and left with his belongings, leaving Twi sobbing on the floor. Unbeknownst to both of them, four-year old Softwood had witnessed it all.
Sunset was quick to comfort Twi and stay with her awhile to help her back on her feet. She felt bad that she was the reason her friend got divorced, but she tried to assure herself it was for the best. She helped Twi raise her daughter, pay rent, buy groceries, and everything else…everything except fill that empty space on her bed.
Eventually, Twi found herself falling for Sunset. She realized how much she had been there for her since that fateful day at the Friendship Games. In fact, Sunset was more supportive of Twi than Timber was. She admitted this at dinner one day, and Sunset poured her feelings out. After that day, Twi and Sunset were an official couple.
Meanwhile, Softwood's resentment was only growing. How could Sunset get her parents divorced? How could Mommy have made Daddy leave? How could Daddy have cheated? All these feelings only became worse as she noticed signs of Sunset's moving in. She even found a strange pair of underwear in her mommy's drawer with a flaming sun on it. She lost sleep listening to odd moaning coming from their bedroom. Sunset was here to stay, and Softwood didn't like it one bit.
Twi and Sunset were oblivious to Softwood's feelings as they fell deeper in love. Sunset eventually proposed and they had a wedding with Softwood as the begrudged flower girl. After some time, Twi and Sunset started looking into having another child.
They knew they would be denied for adoption due to their Equestrian magic. They didn't ask Princess Twilight because it would be dangerous to carry a baby through the portal. Twi read of a method in which they could have a child; one of them would donate her egg, and the other would fertilize it with cells from a different part of her body. They consulted doctors and scientists and got approved for the procedure. It would be expensive, but Twi had savings and her parents were willing to help. After months of trial and error, Twi became pregnant and Sunset was the "father".
Nine months later, Twi gave birth to a baby girl they named Evening Serenity. She was her parents' pride and joy, and even her grumpy big sister had a soft spot for her. Even as Softwood grew more distanced from everyone else, she loved her sister and was extremely protective of her. Meanwhile, Twi had officially moved on from Timber.
Since then, Sunset and Twi have had a happy marriage. Twi finally went to graduate school and got a doctorate, becoming a professor; this was something she couldn't do with Timber. Eve grew to be a cheerful and outgoing young lady, always the light in everyone's life. Softwood is still resentful of her parents, locking herself away at college to get away from them. She visits home only to see her sister, who she still adores. Sunset and Twi are still working on repairing their relationship with Softwood. It's hard, but hopefully they will get there…someday.
