The yellow pegasus squeaked and faltered away from the noise that cracked beneath her hooves, nearly falling over. A simple stick lay broken in two, the forest still silent. She let out a jagged breath as her heart continued to pound. Where was she? When was Zephyr Breeze to return? Her mind continued to race, insanity beginning to sink into it.
It’s been five days now; five days since her brother left her in the feared Everfree where she would never be found or looked for. She’d spend her time gathering wood throughout the time, desperately trying to maintain warmth on her own. She hadn’t eaten for awhile, and she barely slept at all.
It’s been five days since her parents had become so utterly disappointed in her for failing her flight test.
It’s been five days since Zephyr had tried to protect Fluttershy from the lashing out.
It’s been five days since Zephyr went back home to reason with them, and try to pull them together whilst keeping his sister separated from them.
It’s been five days since she was abandoned.
These nightmares have corrupted her mind with a sadness she could not ignore. She needed to stay strong for her brother, but her brother was no longer with her and she didn’t know if he would return.
Her bright eyes had darkened and filled with tears. They continued to stream down her dirtied cheeks until they fell away into the soft soil under her.
She fell weakly to the earth, giving up a little time to simply think about what she could have done better.
She weeped until she could weep no more.

Fluttershy is presented to our world in a state of abandonment and depression.
Zephyr Breeze and Fluttershy are siblings long neglected by their parents. Too busy to give attention to their children, they assume that Fluttershy is failing due to slack instead of talking with her. Zephyr, her loyal younger brother stands to defend his sister who cannot defend herself, causing an uproar amongst them.
Their parents assume that they are ungrateful, and their father swings at the two of them. Zephyr acts quickly, flying himself and his sister to a place where they will never find them. Zephyr warns her to stay put until he returns from trying to reason with his parents.
However, he never returns.
In Fluttershy’s depression and fear, she loses more and more of her sanity in the Everfree, never finding her way out until years later. By this time, she had become a hermit with the animals of the forest being her only company. She chooses to stay, fearing normal society and trusting no-one.
Assumed to be dead, she lives in the Everfree on her own, in hiding."
