"A set of light blue hooves crumbled a piece of parchment between her hooves, chucking the ball across the room and replacing it’s presence with fresh, warm tears. The blue pegasus sobbed quietly; almost angerly. Her mind drew fits of rage and then blanks as her heart pounded.
There Rainbow Dash wept onto the tile of Cloudsdale’s prestigious Wonderbolt Academy, crumbling in wreckage and reduced to no more than a war base. Her heart sank alone, for there were no happy days to be shared here anymore. Instead, there laid it’s memories of her dreams, now shattered and torn away into marble dust.
Rainbow Dash silently wiped away her tears with one wing, her recovery slower than ever for a pony who can fly at the speed of sound. How she would have wished it was her instead. She picks herself up off of the floor, shakes herself off, and leaves the letter behind her in ruin, for she could not bare the words etched into it.
“My Dearest Rainbow Dash,
Your sorrow is shared with all of Equestria in the days of an ending to a fine leader. She will be remembered forever in us all, for you are not alone in your grieving. She cherished you as her own, and can never be replaced.
That said, please note that I am hesitant to offer this position left to you, because I know you are feeling great pain. But I know you will live up as a great protege to her memory, and you will honor what Spitfire has left for you. I know you can do this…
