”Doomed?” The tall mare rolled her eyes. “It’ll be fine, dear! Besides, life’s too short for boring paperwork when that cheesecake’s calling my name.” She continued walking into the dining room, where a grand cake sat at the center of the table.
”No, Princess!-“
”Aurora, hon.”
“Yes, Miss. That cake is for the diplomatic dinner tonight! The dinner that you’re supposed to sign this paperwork for!” Sunbeam tried to stop the princess, but it was too late. She had already taken a slice out of the cake and was chowing right down. Sunbeam could do nothing but groan in exasperation and slam her head on the table.
Aurora looked over at her overworked assistant with a tinge of sympathy. “Sweetie, you look burned out. Why don’t you relax a little, enjoy life?”
”Don’t you think I’d like to?” Sunbeam picked up her head. “I just want to feel like I’m doing my job right, fulfilling my purpose for once. Why does it have to be so hard?”
Pausing for a moment, Aurora became unusually pensive. She hadn’t realized poor Sunbeam had been feeling that way. And clearly, her own behavior wasn’t making things any better. She had to do something to help alleviate the stress.
”Fine, I’ll do the paperwork,” Aurora sighed reluctantly before levitating a generous slice of cake over to her assistant. “But first, why don’t you have a bite? You look like you need it, sweetie.”
Sunbean was surprised. The Princess had never offered her a slice of cake before. “B-but Princess…”
”Take it,” Aurora insisted. “You know, cake always helps me when I’m feeling down and out. Who says it won’t help you too? Sometimes you just need to relax and enjoy life; everything else will work out in good time! Won’t you give it a try?”
”T-thank you, Aurora.” Sunbeam accepted the cake and began eating. It was so creamy and delicious that she instantly started feeling better. Maybe she did need to relax more. There was still work to do, but for now, it was time to eat cake and enjoy life.
