Description:

Another day, another party.

Confetti Surprise settled down on a cloud and sighed. Throwing parties is harder than I expected, she thought to herself. I don’t know how Mom and Dad do it.

It wasn’t just the technical, behind-the-scenes stuff either. Even the simple act of bringing joy to ponies could be hard. Mom and Dad never told her that there would be tough crowds, that some ponies would be impossible to please. As hard as Confetti tried, some parties were complete flops. Maybe I’m not so good at this after all…

She laid back and watched the clouds roll by, trying to clear her head. Was this what she was meant to be doing? Throwing parties so far from home, even if some were failures? Mom and Dad sure made it seem worth it. At least the little ones love me, Confetti smiled to herself. But she couldn’t deny it was draining.

Too bad Galaxy wasn’t there for her to vent to. Or her siblings, who were always there to cheer their big sister up when she was down. And Lightning, her wonderful coltfriend, had always supported her through her highs and lows. What she would give to be with them right now.

Wait. Lightning! Confetti sat up quickly, grabbing her saddlebag and searching through its contents. In her busy schedule, she had almost forgotten about the letter he had sent her the other day. He was probably wondering when she’d write back by now. Plus, it would take her mind off things. She tore open the envelope and began reading.

”My dearest Connie,”

Confetti smiled. A true romantic, he was, even if he didn’t want to admit it.

“I hope your travels have been going well. Knowing you, your parties are surely a hit by now.”

Yeah, she thought. A hit.

“Life has gone on as normal, though not the same without you, of course. You never told me how much of a hoofful your siblings are. I left them alone for one hour and came back to a house full of glitter and whipped cream. They’ve also taken their instruction to take care of me a bit too much to heart. They’ve been following me everywhere.”

That’s Cheesy and Creamy, Confetti laughed to herself, more genuinely than she had all week.

“Other than that, not much out of the ordinary has happened. Expect a care package from your parents at some point.”

Got it right here, Confetti clutched the package to her chest. She had just picked it up today. But it was the next part that really grabbed her attention.

“I’m trying to be strong, but the truth is, Connie, I really, really miss you. It doesn’t feel right with you gone. I didn’t want to say this via letter, but I feel I have to. Confetti Surprise, I love you. You’re a very special pony, and I know you’re making a lot of ponies around Equestria happy. Know I’m waiting for you if and when you decide to return.”

Tears of joy welled up in Confetti’s eyes. This was where her heart belonged, with the ponies who loved her most. Her beloved, her dearest beloved, had actually confessed his feelings to her and was waiting for her, all the more reason to go back to him.

With a newfound enthusiasm, Confetti packed her saddlebags and took flight towards Ponyville, off to reunite with her loved ones. Finally, she was going home.
