Since I did a headcanon on Soarin’s mom, Paint Swirl the First, I figured I might as well create a design for his dad as well. This is Thunderbolt, Paint the First’s alcoholic ex-husband and the deadbeat dad who Soarin would rather forget. He was a Wonderbolt never really wanted to settle down and have a family, so he’d spend his days drinking his problems away and avoiding responsibility. One February day, he packed up his stuff and walked out, leaving a heartbroken Paint and Soarin behind. He was never seen again, but he was reported dead only a few years later.
Paint eventually moved on and got over that asshole, realizing that she was better off without him. Soarin did too, but he never forgot what kind of stallion his father was.
Which is why his own two sons’ behavior is all-too concerning…
