"On the fifth day of Hearth's War-ming my True Love gave to me, Five Books on Speech! Four Pony Tones, Three Parasprites, Two Cider Jugs, and a Pegasus in an Apple Tree!"

It was just going to be Fluttershy giving Big Mac books originally, but in earlier drafts of this series Fluttershy kept giving Mac humorous bad gifts while he kept getting her stuff she wanted. It was funny once, but it was getting repetitive, so I decided to change that. Here it was an easy solution of having them both give each other books on speech since this idea could apply to both of them. Try not to read too much into the implications of the two of them trying to get the other to talk more, it was just an amusing joke that brought a smile to my face.
