Personality:
As a dragon raised by ponies, Fire Opal has always lived between two worlds. Like most dragons, she is fierce and protective, unafraid to scare off “intruders” on her family’s rock farm. She is extremely loyal towards her family, always willing to be there for them even if she’s limited in the ways she can do so. Although she loves her family, Fire Opal is deeply insecure about how the ponies in her life view her, as she is mostly treated as their guard or worse, a pet. She can’t go inside the house or go out and about with them; she’s mostly relegated to the rock farm so she often feels left out of their lives. Even if they do acknowledge her as a family member, she still doesn’t feel like she fits in. She longs to one day find a sense of belonging.
Relationships:
As the first pony she laid eyes on, “Ma” Limestone has always been the one pony Fire Opal is most attached to. It was Limestone who stayed up at all hours to tend to her needs before she could take care of herself, after all. Zephyr did not play such an active role in her rearing—in fact, he was intimidated by her in the beginning—but he is still her dad. Fire Opal only wishes she could share her life with her parents as much as their biological children can.
Fire Opal gets along pretty well with both of her siblings. Turq and Hawk are both pretty chill with her and treat her as a sibling, and try to include her when they can. Even then, they always seem to spend more time with each other than with her, showing a clear divide between her and her pony family.
The one pony who makes Fire Opal feel fully seen as an equal is Acapella Apple. Like her, Pelly often feels like a part of the background, so the two can relate over feeling invisible. Whenever the Pies and Apples get together, Fire Opal and Pelly stick together as the rest of their families get caught up in their own activities. The dragon and pony have formed an unlikely but extremely close friendship, and may grow even closer over time~
