At aprox. 2:25-2:30am, Fifth Officer Lowe and about four extra men searched the sea for any people still alive in the ice cold water of the North Atlantic. Some 1500 bodies floated in the sea after Titanic sank from under them. Most would die of hypothermia from the below freezing temperature of the water. 4 men were resued from the water, but one passed away before the Carpathia arrived.
Lowe was the only man to return to the site to find survivors.
