It seemed like all through late morning, she was constantly refreshing the PortaBeasts app with hopes of finally catching the digitally elusive creature, Timbrewulf. As much as she wanted to stop, she also didn’t have much else to do. Apple Bloom was out of town while Sweetie Belle’s at a dentist appointment. And if she went home now, she’d just be bored all day.
But after well over an hour of hunting in the nearby forest, all she had to show for it was about a dozen low-level Phoenos. “Well, I guess I can trade some of you guys for elixirs,” she muttered grumpily as she scrolled through the day’s catches. Hoping to find better luck, Scootaloo decided to go off the trail a bit and wander a little deeper through the trees. She figured at the very least, the squirrels can keep her company.
It didn’t take long, however, before she came across something that abruptly stopped her in her tracks, eyes wide and mouth agape… Just up ahead was Rainbow Dash, sitting on a fallen log as she stretched her limbs out.
Normally, the mere sight of someone as admirable as Rainbow would be enough for Scootaloo to run up excitedly for high-five. But now, she just stood back, trying to take in the staggering sight in front of her. She already knew Rainbow had been gaining a lot of weight during the past year and a half. It was quite evident from seeing her walking around the school and playing on the field. But needless to say, she was NOT as big then as she was now.
Even as she noticed Rainbow growing fatter each time she happened to see her, whether it was at the mall or in a restaurant, it wasn’t until now that it dawned on her how huge she’s really been getting over the course of the summer. With her massive gut hanging freely from the confines of her tight sweats, she seemed to have doubled in size in just a matter of months.
Scootaloo’s always had weird feelings about seeing Rainbow fattening up. But now, those feelings were becoming twice as strong (and thrice as awkward).
Suddenly occurring to her that Rainbow hadn't even noticed her standing there, Scootaloo decided to keep her cool and just walk up to her. With her heart thumping and her palms sweating, she hastily put away her phone as she began to march her way towards the large girl.
As she approached closer, Rainbow suddenly hefted herself onto her feet and stretched her arms up over her head. Scootaloo came to a halt right beside her, swallowing hard and blushing red as she glanced at Rainbow’s massive body: the way her second chin jutted out, the way her fleshy arms hung down, the way her giant belly wobbled about…
“Oh. Hey, Scoot.”
Snapping out of her daze and back to reality, Scootaloo looked up to find Rainbow Dash briefly looking over her shoulder before continuing her stretching. Not wanting to embarrass herself further, Scootaloo tries to shake it off and play it straight. "Sup, Rainbow Fat? I- I mean, Rainbow Dash!" She failed.
Thankfully, Rainbow didn't seem to notice. "How's it going?" She asked as she finally turned towards Scootaloo.
"Swollen- Swelling- Swell! It's- it's- it's going swell…" The young girl felt ready to die.
"Uh, cool. Same here, I guess," Rainbow replied, face wincing a bit as she pulled down slightly on her tank top. She definitely noticed that time.
"So, um…" Scootaloo continues, hoping to change the subject,"What brings you out here? Workin' out?"
"Yeah. I… just finished, actually. So, I was gonna get dressed and hang around the mall for a bit. Wanna come? Heard they updated the arcade."
On the inside, Scootaloo's heart was going head over heels about this. On the outside however, she tried to keep her cool composure in tact. "I wish I can, but you know how it is."
