Mulberry wonders if the unnatural darkness has something to do with whatever it was she saw in the farm. The mare picks up a nearby piece of debris and tosses it into the corner.

It disappears into the blackness, and she doesn't see or hear anything happen.

Mulberry realizes something as she stares into the corner. The size of the room is a bit short considering how big the front room and the kitchen are. The darkness is covering enough of the black wall that there may be a door back there.
