Firstborn twin of Rarity Belle and Maud Pie, Sterling Silver was named for his beautiful silver coat, which has a natural somewhat metallic sheen to it.

He, much like his mother Rarity, has always had a love for grandeur, and shares his mother’s dream of becoming a Canterlot socialite. Because of this, he became quite the bully in school during his youth, ganging up with the two other unicorns in his class, Peppermint Pie and Phantom Express, in order to pick on his classmates.

The dream of Canterlot went up in flames after he graduated from Cheerikee’s school with suboptimal grades, leaving him with no possible way to get to Canterlot on his own merit. He tried to reason with his mother to send him to work at Carousel Couture, but she refused due to his terrible behavior.

Being stuck in Ponyville while his only two friends moved away made him realize that he really hadn’t been the nicest pony to the rest of his classmates, because he didn’t have any relationship to them beyond tormenting them for years.

Is trying his hardest to make amends and become a better pony. His mother, Maud, is probably the single most important influence pushing him in the right direction.

His horn broke once when he was a colt. Fortunately it was above the core, and thus the horn was able to grow back. Somewhat unexpected, however, was the gem-like appearance of the regrown part of it. Rarity suspects it has something to do with the small amount of crystal pony blood from her side of the family.
