wooo! ive been meaning to redo a lot of mane six family pics for a while. I thought I'd start with my favourite obv, twidash. i've tweaked pretty much everyones designs, particularly rainbow's (it was just a bit plain, idk. plus i love her with freckles bc thats cute).
i cheated and just added the bird song from the previous post because i am too lazy to redraw it again, when i have a perfectly good ref right there lmao. otherwise though this has somehow taken up almost the entirety of my self isolation period.
anyway lets go. some of this is rewritten if i felt it needed to be, some of this is copied and pasted from the old ref

Twidash's story of coming together as a couple was far from smooth. With Twilight being unable to recognise her own feelings, and Rainbow just not being able to express them, their relationship took forever to start- and when it did, it was… weird.
Sure, Dash had been with plenty of mares in her time, and was no stranger to sneaking around in the dead of night to and from different houses in ponyville — but she seemed to take an extra shine to Twilight. and, well, after the princess' rather rocky break up with Discord, she was certainly in and out of the castle a lot.
Neither of them brought it up to any of their friends, but it was definitely not hard to pick up on what was going on… But even still, Rainbow would deny every bit of it ("me and the egghead? lol gross nuh uh").
Definitely did not help Twilight that much, who was far less experienced, and didn't know what was normal, or if she'd misinterpreted Rainbow's advances. Did she want it casual? Did she want something more? She had absolutely no idea.
Truthfully, Dash had the biggest fattest crush on Twilight right from the start. She denied it to everyone, but obviously the rest of the mane six see right through it right away of course. She just couldn't express it all that well with all that mushy romantic stuff. It annoyed her a lot that Twilight just couldn't get that.
Fortunately, with a lot of pushing and nudging, the two finally talk, and make them an official couple — and then they kiss and then they marry and then they live happily ever after. obviously.
Aquila Carmen Sparkle — Bird Song Sparkle — She/Her — va — Alison Brie (x)
not long after twilight and rainbow's wedding, twilight fell unexpectedly pregnant. she was in denial for some time — her morning sickness was near unbearable, at all times of the day and night. she regardless tried to attend her duties, with celestia often having to send her home to bed. twilight insisted that she simply had stomach flu and shed be over it soon, but rainbow, forever the secret worry wort, insisted twilight go to the doctors and check….surprise surprise! lil babu is here!
this sends twilight (AND rainbow for that matter) into a bit of a tizzy. there were so many things about motherhood they were not prepared for — and above all else, due to her own parents emotional abuse she felt extremely unprepared, and almost as though she'd repeat the same mistakes her own parents made.
But, well, Rainbow assured her that that wont happen. She'd be an amazing mother, and well, even if she wasnt, rainbow wouldn't be afraid to step in — after all, it's her kid too, after all, she wouldn't just sit idly by and let that happen to them. She thinks she's at least a little better than that.
Pregnancy was far from easy, particularly with the media swarming around twilight the whole time (was equestria going to get another alicorn princess??) — but on a fresh spring morning, a sweet little unicorn is born

Named after one of the largest constellations in the night sky, and represents strength and loyalty.
Aquila was a sassy little girlie, and definitely smart… maybe a bit too smart, if im honest. she definitely got her little hoofs in the cookie jar a bit too easily, and knew how to perfectly frame it like her little brother did it.
Aquila could hardly pronounce her own name (thanks twilight), and so more often not she'd just get called birdie (since thats what the first part of her name basically means). And, well, when Birdie spends more time at Auntie Fluttershy's, and starts bringing bird eggs home and hatching them and raising all different kinds of birds…. and she gets her cutie mark…. it sort of seals the deal. She gets her name oficially changed to Bird Song. She might still get called Aquila if ether of her moms are angry at her orr if someone wants to pluck a nerve.
towards early adulthood, birdie begins to feel some pressure to take her role as a princess seriously. though twilight would never force that on any of her children, much of the public expected her to make something of herself. the pressure kept increasing as she grew older, and she tried everything she could to make the rumours stop, mostly by publically embarassing herself in an attempt to sway the masses- but all she managed to do was upset her parents, while the rumours persisted. she eventually came in tears to her mothers, explaining everything. while theres no way either of them could stop all of the rumours, they do all they can to help her disconnect from royal life and live her life freely. — which means caring for her birds, marrying her stupid ditzy gf, and settling down in a family disconnected from anything royal or even vaguely "upper crust."

Heat Striker Summer Ballad Sparkle — He/She/They — va — Vic Mignogna (x)
Striker was born on a blazingly hot summer evening, and as per Twilight and Rainbow's agreement, Rainbow got to choose the name of the pegasus foal — Heat Striker!! how cool is that. def the name of a wonderbolt.
….Or so she thought lmao. Strike turned out to be the biggest softie imagineable. He'd cry over most things, with every little inconvenience being a travesty that EVERYONE must know about. This never leaves him, really, and he remained the whiny middle child because of course he is.
It became pretty apparent heat striker is not the right name for him. He was pretty disinterested in high speed flying, and didn't like it when things got too rough. Instead, his interest was much more in singing, and performing. He was constantly putting on shows for his moms, and would sing to his hearts content (much to birdie's dismay, who was constantly telling him to put a sock in it). It becomes pretty apparent this is his calling, and after earning his cutie mark with one pretty dazzling performance at ponyville elementary's talent show — striker becomes summer ballad.
Summer's career starts to take off in his teens. He first starts out doing small gigs around Ponyville, doing it in his spare time while in school — before of course, word gets out about the young princes talent — and his career sky rockets. He joins the ranks of colaratura and sapphire shores, and tours world wide — lapping up the fame as he goes.
Of course, in between his tours, he does have some privacy — being very fond of a sweet, quiet stallion that works in a humble flower shop back in ponyville. He even has a foal of his own eventually, who can sometimes be found backstage cheering them on.

When Birdie and Summer get into their late teens, and are off on their own paths, Twilight and Dash definitely start to get a bad case of empty nest syndrome… don't get me wrong, they were beyond proud of their two kids, but… they just missed having a little foal to spoil.
And so in comes Lucky Wish!
They were expecting a happy healthy unicorn baby, but boy were they surprised. Lucky was born an alicorn… and a sickly one at that.
I kinda have this headcanon that ponies born as alicorns have way too much magical energy in them for them to be able to handle. See, an adult unicorn ascending to the throne is much bigger, and much more capable of handling the large amounts of energy that is suddenly in their bodies — but a tiny foal can not. This means most, if not all, born alicorns are incredibly sick when they are born. Most don't make it past infancy, with the only ones that have in living history being flurry heart up to this point.*
The first few months of Lucky's life was rough on everyone. Twilight and Rainbow didn't think she'd live, and they were in and out of hospitals trying to get her the care she needed. With many a sleepless night, however, Lucky began to recover- making out of it alive, and gaining her name "lucky wish" (because she's twilight and rainbows lucky little wish awwwwwwwwwww)
lucky got the bookworm gene. her special interest is all kinds of science, and is constantly conducting her own experiments throughout the castle, often leading to a lot of destruction. twilight allows it though due to her own passion for science (much to birdie's disgust, smh younger siblings get away with everything).
lucky's talent is… vague. she got it very early on, for something incredibly benign — picking a four leafed clover from the grass. though at the time she was too excited to care, as she grew up she couldnt for the life of her figure out what it meant. it was apparent that it was related to luck in some way (clue is in the name), but why from just picking the clover? Lucky didn't like it, it didn't make sense, and it wasn't logical. it wasn't fair.
She distracts herself with other experiments, to avoid thinking about it.

rainbow's special interested is wonderbolts/flying, while lucky's is science.
twilight loves to listen to her wife get all excited and flappy about the wonderbolts and her latest flying routine. she loves how happy and excited it makes her, and hearing her voice go squeaky and seeing her wings flitter makes her love her even more
twilight carried all 3 of the foals. I get a lot of ppl not really understanding why, but its mostly because i dont see it as something rainbow would want to go through? i think itd be difficult for her, considering her profession and her interests in flying basically becoming impossible if she were to be pregnant. That, and it'd be incredibly physically and mentally uncomfortable for her — moreso than most ponies. Twilight wouldn't make Rainbow go through that even once, so she "takes the hit" i guess.
lucky is best friends with spike's daughter, lily… who i also need to update the ref for. she also looks up to her older cousin flurry (who acts as her mentor of sorts, being a born alicorn as well).
twilight has ptsd, from her childhood trauma and also having like every equestrian disaster put on her shoulders. I've explored the childhood side of that a lot but in future i might go into the other side.
