“Shining I’ve already made up my mind, I’ve dealt with Flash for the past 4 years. I’ll be fine I promise.” Twilight said, flashing a grin at her brother who only sighed.
“You shouldn’t have had too though.. not for 4 years- hell not even for one day. I should’ve seen the signs..” He sighs, the guilt still radiating through his chest. However his self-loathing was paused as he heard his sister snort before bumping shoulders with him.
He looked down at her then. She seemed… tired, yet content and humored.
“I wouldn’t have told you if you’d started pulling my fangs. I was just so.. empty and brainwashed into thinking what was going on was okay that I… I’m glad he cheated.” She hums, looking ahead at her palace hallway.
“Well… at least let me be in the other room in case things get out of hoof. Okay? Divorce isn’t an easy pill to swallow, especially if he’s as volatile as you say he is.” Shining was trying not to fret, this was a fucking Alicorn for Celestias sake! But it was hard for him to not see Twilight as his baby sister no matter how badass she was.
“If that’ll help you stop shedding from nervousness, then be my guest.” She teases, a glimmer of her past snark shining through and Shining all but beamed, chuckling as he nudged her.
“Okay okay- if things get rough don’t kick his ass too hard, save some for me.” He jokes, walking off to enter one of the other rooms.
Twilight sighed once she was alone, staring at the door that led to one of her sitting rooms. Why did she feel so nervous all of a sudden? Where was her previous voice and confidence? She’s not stepping into a room of snakes or horse eating spiders.. this was her husband, soon to be ex husband. He was just a Pegasus.
She sucked in a breath, tucked in her wings and raised her head. Ignoring her slight tremble her magic manifested, opening the door.
Twi relaxed a bit upon entering, seeing Flash who was calmly reading through a book with his reading glasses. She shakes the dramatization from her head, finding it silly how she thought as soon as she entered he’d be over her, guns-a-blazein’.
Taking a seat on the couch across from Flash he’d peer up, setting the book down along with removing his glasses.
“Sorry for the formality of all.. this. Just I needed to talk with you about us an-and the Princesses were only allowing me to send letters while I was in questioning- and you know how formal I tend to talk in my letters so I’m sorry this makes it all so awkward and-“
“Twilight, you’re spiraling again.” Flash deadpans, causing the Alicorn to shut her mouth.
Right. Take a breath and stop pussyfooting around.
“Flash, I want a divorce.” He responded a good minute later, eyes training onto her husbands. He looked taken aback, then confused, and then angry.
The Pegasus glared, wings bristling.
“Excuse me? You run off for six months with some hippy band wagon, and our young impressionable son, and you show up wanting a divorce? Where’d you pull this idea from, huh? Your ass?” He snaps.
Twilight unintentionally fluffed up, ears flicking back and tail wrapping around her in response.
“Flash I saw you with Trixie the night I returned home. Hard to mistake the ruffled fur and hickeys all over her neck for just a friend coming over for wine.” She mumbles.
“Oh please, what did you expect? You were gone for two months in Canterlot while I had to take time off to take care of Volans. I have needs, Twilight. It’s not my fault you couldn’t be here to satisfy them.”
Twilight then flared with anger, holding herself back from baring her fangs as she glowered.
“You knew I was there to help prep for Lunas wedding AND work with my friends to give Rarity an intervention. I wasn’t just trotting around doing nothing.” Twilight grits out, tail flicking angrily.
“Don’t you look at me like that, you went off and disappeared for 2 months. How do you think our kid felt every night you weren’t there to tuck him in huh?”
Twilight shook her head, fed up. She stood, walking towards the door.
“I’m not going to sit here while you scold me. I’m leaving you and that’s final.” She stated firmly, completely unaware at that very moment how she got so ballsy. On her way out, Flash followed and unintentionally pushed the door too aggressively. This caused it to slam against the crystal wall and his shouting didn’t help either. He was completely unaware of the primal beast of big brother energy that was in the next room.

Shining wasn’t violent, rather hes protective and sensitive but this whole situation had him on a whole new level of angry. His black and white mindset has been with him since he was little. This is bad and that is good. Simple. However this was conflicting as shit.
Him and Flash endured the same training. He was even Flashes best man at Twis wedding and the pair frequently watched hoofball together. Yet he never knew how aggressive he was past closed doors. He was angry with Flash and pissed at himself for not noticing. Twis weight lose the long mane and how she seemed to drink just a bit more than what was necessary when her and Flash with to social functions.
His thought process was stopped once he heard a door slam against a wall followed by Flashes shouting.
The off-white unicorn practically barreled through the doors, catching the orange Pegasus all up in his sisters face as she backed up against a wall.
His instincts had him there in a split second, shoulder slamming against the others side as he snarled.
Flash was caught off guard, stumbling and falling on his side. At first he looked up at the muscled unicorn in fear before masking it by baring his teeth and glaring.
“Keep your hooves off my sister, asshat!” Shining rumbled out.
“Mind your own damn business, horn-fuck!” Flash snapped as he picked himself back up.
Shining was in Flashes face now, the pair spitting insults before Twilight wedged herself in between them, wings making them separate.
“Enough!! Both of you! You need to stop insulting my brother and you need to stop fighting my battles for me!” Twi said sharply.
The argument wasn’t smooth sailing after that and Shinings aggressive advances is what pushed Flash to give in. Then within 3 days he’d packed up his shit and left.
Even when the divorce was finalized, the abuse info got leaked which got Flash in a heap of trouble, Twilight didn’t take any satisfaction from it. Because in the end it was her brother and his intimidating appearance that forced Flash to submit while Twilight never got over her internal turmoil over standing up against him.
