The heavy silence is broken only by the stomping of your hooves on the hard dirt road. As you reach the settlement, you see an inn, a windmill, and a general store, built around a water well.
While Whirlpool enters the store to buy some potions, Opaline looks down the nearby well.
Opaline: "This land is so dry, we could well-nigh cut ourselves on blades of grass."
Tailkicker: "Why's it all dried up?"
Blood Edge: "Let's ask the locals, they must know something about this."
You enter the inn, and ask the innkeeper about the situation. He tells you that the villagers used to make rain clouds with the water from the lake to the south, but recently, a giant monster has taken control of it.
Without the magic or steel to defend themselves, the ponies are left at the mercy of the monster, and only you can save them.
