We should take some time to introduce ourselves to each member of the crew personally by explaining who we are and what we're doing. I'm sure they're wondering what we're after and why we're here. We should also ask them what they do around here .
The wind rushes against your coat and through your mane as the airship begins to pick up speed. Once high enough to sail above a speckled layer of clouds, the rest of the harpies emerges from below deck.
You decide to join them, and take some time to let everyone know about who you are and what your quest is, as well as learn a little about the crew and each one of its members.
Dytis: "So you're adventurers? I get it. You're kind of like tengu, our flightless cousins from the east. Although, if you have to ask what a harpy does, then my guess is that you've been missing out."
Ramfos: "Well, don't worry, we don't bite! Unless that's what you're into. To put it plainly, unlike you little ponies – or tengu –, we harpies are all females, so we've gotta get our egg fertilizer somewhere else.
That is, from other creatures. Since that's a market with just about endless supply and demand, most of us are travelling merchants by trade."
Dytis: "Right. And travelling across the world means flying with a crew. I'm this crew's first arm. I operate the ship's wings and balloon during liftoffs and landings."
Ramfos: "I'm the cook, or the second arm when Dytis is on break."
Kilida: "I'm the quartermaster, and I double as the mechanic. My job is to make sure we don't run out of supplies, and that our ship stays high in the sky. Let me know when this gets too interesting."
Ziton: "And I'm the crew's eagle eye! If it's an island or a good deal, I'm always the first to see it."
You spend the next few hours chatting with the harpies about each other's homeland and culture. Being cute and polite even earns you and your friends some free hugs!
Admittedly, with a warm and heavenly soft blanket of feathers wrapped around you, and dexterous talons scratching smoothly behind your ears, you are left only imagining all that your new friends can really do.
Alas, your daydreaming is cut short by a voice at the front of the ship.
Ziton: "Crescent Island straight ahead!"
Sure enough, a barely discernible line on the horizon soon grows into the silhouette of a landscape. Behind it, a seemingly endless tower of clouds spirals up into the firmament. The aircraft turns to slow down to a near halt.
Floga: "Alright, girls, that's as close as we're gonna get. Just say the word, and we'll bring you and your boat down at sea level."
