The violet alicorn closed her eyes and yawned as she fought off the demons of sleep. She opened her eyes just in time to see the pages of the tome start to glow. Then a swirling column of smoke burst from the book and slowly began to take the form of Twilight's most senior Mare-in-Waiting and lover Page Turner. The unicorn continued to float partially solidified in the air above the boring book. For this evening Twilight's partner was dressed in what she called Her Adventure Outfit. An all black leather ensemble that flattered her figure. The unicorn leaned forward and looked the princess in the eyes.
"Your Highness! As instructed by you I'm here to tell you it's break time! Time to put the book away and have some fun!"
"Aargghh!" Yawned the alicorn. "I will Page once I've fini–"
Her comment was cut short by a gloved finger on her lips. The floating unicorn shook her head. "No no! Break time is now! By the powers invested in me. By you. I hereby declare an end to the reading of this dull book! And trust I've been lurking in its pages for the last hour or so. So I know it's dull!"
Page Turner grinned and looked down at her seated partner. "Instead I recommend adjourn into the pages of something far interested and exciting!" It was at this moment that Twilight noticed the book in the Mare-in-Waiting's left hand.
"Let me guess. That book?" She eyed dubiously. Especially in light of how her partner was dressed. "What's the title and who's the author?"
An impish grin danced over Page Turner's face. "Oh! It's called Legends of Leather and Lust!" It's a pseudo-historical novel from Ponyville's finest writer steamy adventures!"
Ponyville's finest writer steamy adventures was a title reserved for Petina who wrote under the pen name of Passionate Plume. She'd been causing quite a stir in Equestria's literary circles for the last 10 years or so. Twilight arched an eyebrow. "Well that explains your choice in wardrobe then." She glanced down her own outfit. "Should I change into something appropriate before we embark on this adventure?"
Page Turner grinned. "No, no. That won't be necessary." She leaned even further forward and looked Twilight in the eyes. "Because you won't be wearing much of anything dear." She purred.
The alicorn swallowed. Well, this new book definitely sounded more exciting than the one she'd been reading all night.
