Polaria is in a state of being perpetually tired. Her days are extremely monochromatic. Waking up in the morning, going through a checklist of chores, setting up the shop, etc. The most striking thing about her is the consistent bags under her eyes and her seeming inability to smile in a genuine way. Most smiles you'll see on her are of a sarcastic or mocking nature. She has a sharp, biting tongue and more often than not is bluntly rude when confronted.
In truth though, she doesn't mean to come off as an ass. She does care about others, and she doesn't hate everyone. She's just extremely introverted, lacks a filter, and is generally very cynical and jaded. She hasn't gone full Nietzsche though.
Most find her to be somewhat… unpleasant. Though this is if they ever go beyond standard business pleasantries with her. On surface level, behind the counter, she's perfectly respectful, through sheer lack of care for the other (given she doesn't know them on a level beyond "customer").
Her compassion is somewhat hard to truly see. It only really rears its head when someone is in EXTREMELY obvious distress, and Polaria finds herself stumbling around trying to comfort them. Even when shes trying her best to be nice and comfort, sometimes her words still come out with some razors.
Part of why Polaria has such a hard personality is due to her upbringing. Her mother left her father shortly after she was born, and so was raised by only him. Her father, General Red Galea, being a military stallion, as well as being a completely new father, was less than graceful raising her. He loved her dearly and tried his best, but was like how she is in present day- jaded, hard faced, and barking. Even to this day she has a strained relationship with him, mostly because he believes she could do alot better than some dinky map shop in Ponyville.
As of late however, due to the technological breakthroughs, spike of interest in astronomy, and even lands beyond Equestria, she's found herself swamped with more customers than shes used to handling.
