“Aaaand… one, two, three and four!” Party Favor called from above the music playing, both Red Velvet and Grandstand following his lead and moving to the beat, their movements synchronized until the ringmaster misstepped, mixing one dance move with another.

“Damn…” Grandstand muttered, quickly trying to fix her mistake and catch up with the others, but Party Favor paused and turned back, using his magic to stop the recording.

Red Velvet did the same as her father, turning back to Grandstand as he spoke up. “Now, don’t worry! We’ll get this down.”

“He’s right. You’ve got so much on your plate, I’m surprised you joined us for the extra practice!” Red gave a reassuring smile and put a hoof on her friend’s shoulder.

“Well, I can’t let you two continue to dance circles around me forever.” Grandstand chuckled, wiping a bead of sweat from her brow. They had been running routines for a little less than an hour and while Grandstand was getting tired, Party Favor and Red Velvet barely looked affected.

Favor and Red laughed along with her, and the stallion started the music again. “I promise, you’ll get it. It’s all about muscle memory and practice. Let’s run it again and see if we can work through it!”

Grandstand nodded and with Party Favor counting them in again, the three started their routine again. The blue mare focused on the others and their steps rather than her own, desperately trying to remember the proper moves.

She seemed to falter for a moment, but caught herself before messing up in the same place. Smiling proudly, Grand glanced up to see Party Favor watching her and Red Velvet with a proud smile on his face. The white-haired mare hardly seemed to notice, her eyes closed and grinning as if she was in her own little word.

A few seconds passed where Grandstand watched the unicorn look down proudly at his daughter, and she wondered if her own father would have looked at her like that if he knew her. If seeing her work hard and stay on top of everything would make him beam with delight. But the thought of it made her falter once more and Party Favor caught her eye, bringing her back to their practice.

“Don’t worry, kiddo. You got this.” He smiled, and Grandstand knew this was as close she would get to a father’s pride. She fixed her mistake and kept going, now back in step with the two.

“Thanks.” The mare grinned back, and the three continued their rehearsal.
