One thing I really don't get here is the rotting crops metaphor. Are ponies off limits when they stop being foals? Wouldn't a better metaphor be that the crops have bolted? Because that's what you call it when vegetables get too mature and start breaking down all their nutrients and leaves to try and grow a bunch of seeds.

Nah, I'm clearly overthinking it. I hope something changes soon.
