Celebrating Star Trek Day (Sept. 8) 2021 with ponified versions of my favorite Enterprise bridge crew! I'm so happy with how all of these turned out, considering the mad dash manner in which I worked on them, lol. Not bad for a day-and-a-half's work, if I do say so myself, but I'll probably revisit and pretty them all up later on (and at a more reasonable pace!). I really wanted to include Nurse Chapel for today, but I just didn't have the time; she'll definitely be added later!

ANYWAY, here we have the Navigation Officers, Lieutenant Hikaru Sulu as a unicorn and Ensign Pavel Chekov as a bat pony! Except for his hair color, Sulu's colors took the longest to settle on, but I love the end result! And Chekov's autumnal vibe is just perfect for him, lol. Species-wise, I chose unicorn for Sulu both because it just felt right and to pay homage to the character's heritage, since, I believe, the unicorn myth has Asian origins (unless I'm completely wrong on that, but hopefully not!). Chekov was destined to be winged because of how much of a ladies' man he is, and for some reason pegasi strike me as fun and flirty like that; but since Kirk was already a pegasus, Chekov became a bat pony both for species variety and that wonderful accent.

For all of the ponified crew, I tried to keep as much of the original characters' traits as possible, especially with their eyes and hair. Everyone had such clean-cut hairstyles in TOS that it was a little difficult picking out enough differences to make each mane and tail style unique, but I love where they all landed. Love None of them have cutie marks and I don't intend to give them any, mostly because I don't really enjoy drawing/keeping up with cutie marks, but in my headcanon (wow, I never have headcanons, lol, what's happening to me?) I like to think that ponies have evolved out of cutie marks by the Trek era, which seems to be supported by their increasing minimization across the generations, lol.
