Description:

I'm getting the hang of this base stuff I think! It's kinda fun actually. While I doubt I'll be using bases for adopts very much, I might just do some things like this to draw my own characters, mainly because it's relaxing and easy for me… which honestly I need some relaxing coloring time with the way my life has been going.

Some things I had to learn during this drawing: I have to be careful with my fill bucket tool and pay attention to where I'm touching or else I'll constantly be using the "ctrl+Z" command. Changing things in the base itself can feel difficult, but if I just flow with it instead of trying to fight the drawing then I'll get the result I want. Layers are your friend! I used more layers than I thought I would use. Getting a decent looking gradient is difficult… but not impossible. It took time, but I think the gradient in Affinity's mane looks nice. I also had the struggle of changing the shape of the eye shines to deal with, which was a struggle all it's own. Just had to keep reminding myself "pretty, not perfect".

I made a status update about this but I'll mention it here too. After playing around with this base and really figuring out how they work… I honestly think I could make a base with my own drawing. It'd be a little time consuming, but I do believe it's something I could do. Plus I like a challenge sometimes, that and learning new things. Would anyone be interested in a base drawn by me? It'd be MS Paint friendly and F2U if I did make one. I draw in show style with a few tweaks here and there, so it'd be a little bit different than the bases that are drawn to match screenshots.

Anyway! Here is my precious Affinity! I've only drawn her as a filly once and that was simply a crime, so I was kinda excited to have found a base of a filly with an eye shape similar to Affinity's. Her eyes aren't the normal pony shape after all.
