Laziness, or stupidity depending on whether the style leans into making stallions look like mares, or mares look like stallions respectively. The latter is typically "hurr durr horses don't have sexual dimorphism" autism, like the Color Of Brick And Shape Of Brick. Well guess what genius, neither do most of monkeys. Also, stallions tend to be slightly larger with something like 5% overlap, i.e. stallions with mare proportions and mares with stallion proportions.
Maybe partially. I think there are a lot of people in this fandom who have a trap fetish. At 4chan they're only half joking about wanting some femboy dick.
I can't disagree. It's laziness, especially when the show has clear style differentiation between mares and stallions.
