Description:

“Post-Awareness Stage 4 is where serenity and the ability to recall singular memories gives way to confusions and horror. It's the beginning of an eventual process where all memories begin to become more fluid through entanglements, repetition and rupture.”

The horrible thing about this stage is that dementia robs you of the ability to cope with dementia. Even if you come to terms with it, that goes away. Then you're just confused and terrified and… sad. The worst part is you can't even end your suffering, because you aren't of sound mind in the slightest, and the people taking care of you are sure to prolong the agony out of compassion, even though the dementia will only get worse, never better. If there's the faintest chance it could ever get any better, they call it schizophrenia, not dementia.

Then again, given the quality of hospice care, they'll practically kill people who aren't suffering, just because they don't give a fuck about them, so I guess you'd be… …safely killed in their hands.
