Sandbar couldn't quite explain it. Maybe he wanted a woman who felt like a mother? Or big sister? One he felt comfortable being vulnerable with? A relationship where he didn't feel he had to be the strong one?
When Yona met Sandbar, she saw a cute little pony. There were a few bullies she was tempted to smash. But she didn't want to lose access to her friends, so she held back. Sandbar was one pony she could never crush — he was just too precious to her. He also taught her that she did not need to avenge her honor.
Why would Yona want a man who's small and fragile compared with her? Maybe it's because it brings out the mother, or big sister, in her? She loves to be the big one, but she also loves having a special creature worth protecting — one who makes her feel free to be vulnerable with her emotions.
Even when they make love, Sandbar doesn't feel as strong as his wife. However, this isn't a big deal — since Yona loves to touch herself when she thinks of Sandbar. (I just referred to three dirty songs — but I recast the words to celebrate what I value in marriage as a Christian!)
