Admittingly, IDW left much to be desired. But I know of simularities that could work here…

Bio: Unad is the son of Danu and result of Thracian deal after many lectures on what happened in the knights' years of absence courtesy of Celestia. He was intended as part of a revenge scheme and left undercover (looking like a normal pony) in the care of a unsuspecting yet caring Comet Tail and Moondancer in Ponyville, with the hope his knowledge of the populance would be critical. Upon Graduating the School of Friendship his heritage is unveiled in secret and he is faced with a choice, having especially become close friends with Cherry Blossom (Bulkshy Daughter) while at the campus as part of coming out of his shell which started in elementary school. In the end, Unad values the friendships he's made, much to his real father's disappointment thus is restored to full power courtesy of the Thracians. The Knights' revenge attempt is halted in Ponyville as father and son duel ending in Unad's death. His dying words strike a chord in his father's soul, futher haunted by words from Celestia. Upon realization, Danu is purged of Thracian power and influence and his own power restored, of his own free will. Unad is also purged, resurrected and his Cutie mark appears: a pawprint within a heart of gold. The two reconcile and the knights return to Cunabula while Unad is allowed to remain in Ponyville as an ambassador, leaving Diomedes unhappy and Danu on caution of the Thracians (a nod to the events of Nyxian Alliance).

Later on, Unad and Cherry are able to marry and have two children: Juno and Maculi

I knew from early on the knights were somewhat like the Amazons of DC/Greek Mythology, particularly the ones from the 2009 animated movie. It's was obvious Danu needed a history course, but executing the effectiveness of that was tricky. At least, until I remembered another reference I've played with…

Unad, as a result, is partiality based on Alucard, as he finds more pleasure in friends rather than his Father's misguided agendas. Family conflict spawned from that and intertwining the defeats would turn out something brilliant. Given the Thracians are left as potential threats, this would make a perfect prelude to Part 2.

I based Unad's look after his father's, but with key differences in order to not make it look as if he was reincarnated as part of the undercover.
