On Sunday (21st August 2022) the weather decided to defy gloomier forecasts on behalf of the Czequestria 2022 and chalk drawing outside the venue became possible. Given the theme of the Czequestria (sun vs. moon) and with there being only a couple of hours left I went for the easy but rather memorable design of the mare in the moon.
Also I wanted to try out some "chalks" I had made myself out of plaster and colors. I had made mostly black chalks because that color tends to be in short supply (as charcoal) and high demand and the coal sometimes turns out to be more dusty than the chalk. Unfortunately the self made chalks didn't turn out to be as color intensive as I had hoped being more of a dark gray (which worked find for the mare in the moon design, but would be somewhat pale if used for the black in eyes for example) rather than black. Also the moon is not quite as circular (in the lower left corner in particular) as I would have liked to have it.
The chalk drawing was a lot of fun however and other artists have come up with very beautiful and more original motives.
