@AA I seem to recall that someone did a 3D model a while back. The way the faces are drawn, especially the eyes, doesn't actually wrap around a 3D model correctly, and to make the model look "right" from a given camera position, they had to make the eyes flat discs and slide them side to side on the face depending on camera angle. It worked. If you looked from any angle but the angle the camera was supposed to be using, it was an eldritch abomination to haunt your nightmares, but it worked.
