> Tay Aster is an SS Contract Officer and Mel's adopted mother. She started out as a Private Officer until about seven years after she took in Mel (Bling at the time), when she discovered a glaring issue regarding slave registration. Turns out some ponies would capture a slave, skip the process of registering said slave, and put together fake records to then turn in to SS officers, causing them to avoid things like paying taxes on them and having appraisals for them. Once she brought the administration's attention to this, the issue immediately got dealt with and she was promoted to Contract Officer, which led to her getting her cutie mark. Since then, she would take in runaway slaves and black their records. She's a tough soldier, but she also acts like a caring mother to both Mel and the slaves she takes in.
> Mel used to be a tanuki named Bling, but one day she woke up with a completely new look and a cut from the left side of her neck down to her chest. She lived out on the streets of Fillydelphia for about nearly three years until she reunited with NightSwift and they both started dating over a year later. She's a pessimistic but loving mother who loves a bit of thrill every once in a while.
