From what I recall, (if my brain isn't making things up to make the story less dumb again) Twilight Sparkle was trapped when her own failsafes closed her in a protected bunker, so there was a solid steel bulkhead between her and helping Trixie. So… this was just drawn a little sillier than it should have been.
To be fair, this scene happened in the middle of a balefire bomb blast. That's the FoE's equivalent of a nuke. No one had any time to react.
