My dad's battle ended in January. I'm still coming to terms with it. It really seemed like we were winning. There never was any proof that the cancer was back. One day they tell me their latest test didn't find any cancer cells and he'll probably be going home the next day. A few hours later, at 4 in the morning, I get the dreaded phone call to come get his things. It was that fast. Whatever it was.

I don't think it was the cancer. I think we missed something nobody was looking for. I'm always going to wonder what.
