The CheesePie family!! I have been feeling a bit under the weather for a while, so I thought maybe a little base edit could help me get over my annoying art block. A little base edit quickly turned into the full family piece, minus the parents. I tried to make them as original as possible, there's a lot you can do with a CheesePie kid design, so I decided to go all out. So, who are these kids, exactly?
Milky Way (he/they — transmasc pansexual) - The oldest son of the CheesePie family, Milky can only be described one way. A troublemaker. On complete accident most of the time, but a troublemaker nonetheless. He's very inteligent and one hell of a scientist, but he tends to not think things through, often winging most of his ideas, which ends in things blowing up or being set on fire. They are loud, and very honest, especially when it comes to their emotions (=yelling loudly when they are excited, yelling and ranting when they are angry or when their experiment fail).
He does not shy away from being critical or sarcastic to others, but on the other hand he is a sweetheart to those he holds dear, remembering very specific things about them, like their likes and dislikes, their schedules so he can remind them of what they need to do, as well as collecting anything that reminds him of his family or friends, such as specific gemstones, figures of things his loved ones like, and so on. He has a lot of love to give, but often struggles with saying it out loud. Milky likes to say he does not care about how others see him, he does not care if he is “hard to handle” for others. But truth be told, he still struggles with the idea that maybe he just wasn’t born to fit in with everyone else.
- Could tell you all the ingredients used in any dish you make him eat, and could do so even blindfolded. He is very good at telling flavors apart. This does not mean he is not a picky eater. Truth be told, Milky only enjoys very sweet and sugary flavors, as well as soft textures that melt on your tongue after you take a bite. Spicy flavors though, that’s a different story. They will eat it, of course, they do not like throwing any food away, but they will not be happy about it.
- While he is more than qualified to help his parents in the kitchen of their bakery, Milky prefers being the delivery boy. He and his youngest sibling, Rocky Road, often deliver the goods together, enjoying some sibling bonding, aka racing each other and making fun of those they dislike together. Besides Homunculus, Rocky is probably his best friend. They love their other two siblings as well, of course, but Sugar is a bit too much of a workaholic for Milky, and Spider is somehow even more energetic than Milky. Rocky, on the other hand, seems to be just a tiny version of Milky himself, be it a bit more closed off with his emotions.
- Has a pet cat named Coconut Milk. He’s a small, white ball of fluff. Despite looking adorable, this cat is a menace. And a brat. Milky adores him will all his heart and spoils him rotten.
- His special talent is making Ice Cream!
Sugar Cookie (she/her — cis lesbian) - The third oldest, and the twin sister of Spider Cookie, is the workaholic of the family. Sugar has a hard time staying in one place, she has to have something to do with her hooves otherwise she grows quite restless. Despite her name, Sugar is actually the one Pie family member other creatures fear the most, she is often thought of as cold and distant, sending others blank stares or very short answers. She is not exactly social, and she does not pretend to be, she has no need to pretend to be "sugary sweet". Quite the opposite actually, Sugar can be very sarcastic to others if she is provoked enough, and she is intimidating if you do something to hurt her siblings. A few creatures have described her as very overprotective, especially over her twin sister.
At heart, Sugar is a softie who just enjoys being with her family, often dragging the others for a family game night, or dragging them to help her bake and try her new creations. When alone with her family, Sugar proved to be quite the prankster, often pulling pranks on her siblings and then smirking when they send her a glare or yell at her. She is a Pie after all, a few jokes couldn't hurt.
- Is the best baker in her entire family, and will probably one day take over Sugarcube Corner. However, do not let her cook if you do not want the kitchen to be on fire. Baking is, apparently, the only thing Sugar can actually do in the kitchen. She is very embarrassed about this fact and nearly pushed Milky down the stairs once for teasing her about it. Spider Cookie tried to help her learn how to cook, but it's almost as if Sugar was cursed.
- Her special talent is actually planning weddings, she however thinks that job is quite boring, and instead focuses on being a baker.
Spider Cookie (she/he — genderfluid aroace) - The fourth child, and the twin brother of Sugar (younger by a few minutes), and the one many creatures dubbed "Pinkie Jr". Spider is energetic, loud, very loving and, all in all, just a really fun pony to be around. She is always willing to help, and she especially adores making gifts for those she adores. A bit too naive and a bit too positive, Spider often gets into trouble, or more likely gets dragged into trouble by other creatures, which is exactly why his twin sister seems to be so protective over him. Spider is kind-hearted, and Sugar often worries that's what will get him hurt in the end. While often written off as the "idiotic" Pie sibling, Spider is a lot smarter than she lets on, she simply goes with the flow instead of applying logic most of the time.
Once again, Spider is probably the one that resembles Pinkie the most. He often helps his siblings work through their negative feelings, and helps them get out of their comfort zone, helps them try something new. She is the only one who seems to be spared from Sugar's pranks, the other twin often babies her to no end, and while Spider appreciates this, she is often left feeling frustrated with Sugar. This, however, is left unsaid, as Spider struggles with talking about his own negative emotions.
- Works at a local haunted house, as both an actor and the pony in charge of making the costumes. She loves all things horror, and often forces Milky to read horror novels out loud for her while she works on the costumes. And, while not a very good baker, she often comes up with fun design ideas for cookies that Sugar later tries to make. Truly the artist of the family, and he holds great pride in it.
- His special talent is, of course, designing.
Rocky Road (he/him — cis queer) - The baby of the family, Rocky is quite the shy and quiet kid. While a very big risk taker and someone who is always up on his hooves, trying to go on the next big adventure, being social is not his strong suit. He has no fear when it comes to many things, which worries his parents to no end, but actually speaking to others? Rocky tends to avoid other creatures as much as possible, hiding in his room, running around in the forest or hanging out in Milky's lab. Rocky is selectively mute, and Milky often tends to speak for him when out in public, or with his silbings as well if he isn't up to talking around the house. Spider and Sugar have their own ways of communicating with their baby brother, Milky just likes feeling helpful.
Funnily enough, Rocky is probably the best comedian out of the entire family. He can get very sassy when comfortable, his timing is perfect when it comes to delivering his replies, and he is just funny on complete accident. Once he even made Sugar choke on her tea with one of his jokes. Cheese and him often have "pun wars", the rest of the family has a love-hate relationship with it.
- He loves anything to do with the color green and collects ANYTHING that is mostly green in color. Rocky especially loves anything that has a frog-like design. Spider made him a froggy bucket hat for his birthday and he has not taken it off since.
- His special talent is being an adventurer.
Limelight Rivet (they/he/she — nonbinary bisexual) - The second oldest, Limelight was made for spotlight. A true showpony and a master at smooth talk, Limelight knows exactly what to say to get what they want, and their natural charisma only helps with it. Limelight has big dreams and wants to truly become somepony special, in turn though they are terrified of failing, and can get quite frustrated at their own mistakes. One could say they are a bit of a try-hard who tries to one-up anyone they meet, but in reality Limelight is only trying to prove to themselves that they have what it takes, that they can become someone great. Someone worthy of respect, not just someone expected to be the clown for others' enjoyment.
He is actually terrible with jokes. While he can make up excellent speeches on the spot, tell him to make a joke and he will freeze completely. She tries her best, okay? Cut her some slack. They can still tell you everything there is to know about running a business… Maybe that will be more interesting than a joke, right? …Right?
- Has not been in touch with their family for a very long time, for very personal reasons that I will hopefully show one day with more art. She adores her family dearly, she really does. But if he wants to be somepony great, he can't look back… Right? Limelight absolutely does not have a problem with doubting himself and needing constant reassurence, no.
- Their special talent is doing speeches, funnily enough.
The bad must be recorded and remembered along side of the good in order for people to know that the shit they are about to post was posted before and it was not welcomed. The best solution would be to allow anyone to post anything pony relates, art or comment, and then bullied into the ground to discourage everyone from doing unfavourable posts. Of course this would require mods to stay put and not delete negative comments claiming that it's spam.
@Background Pony #6AF5 >improves the ratio That is what a filter is for. You can improve the ratio as much as you desire. It can even reach 100% good art. It is a very useful tool that the refusal to use helped to destroy Derpibooru.
@Background Pony #4D7E I have been working on some of it that is absolutely no longer an image of ponies. There is such a quantity though, I could never get it all deleted. Regardless, what is helpful is to tag things that you see that absolutely should be deleted and report the images so I can quickly remove things that are no longer pony related and is just spam.
@Background Pony #6AF5 Good point, but boorus offer unique functionality in searching and excluding tags for users. It's not a perfect solution but it goes a long way, because you can add a bunch of tags to "watched" and not have to worry about missing out on good art. The trending pages are a further help.
The problem with deleting "bad art" is that not only is it a massive burden for jannies but it's entirely subjective. Should troll art be deleted? How about screencaps that serve as reaction images? There are unlimited questions you'd have to ask and almost all of them lie on a gradient which different people will answer differently.
No, but it would improve the signal-to-noise ratio and the average quality of the art here, which are both valid and admirable goals in and of themselves.
@Background Pony #6AF5 The good exists regardless of the bad existing. Furthermore, the bad reinforces talent and worth of actual art. Deleting images doesn't generate better art.
People get pissy about it, but things like this are exactly why this site shouldn't try to archive every single edit ever, every single frame screenshot made into a "clever" image macro ever, and every Tumblrina brainfart mouthpiece picture of overdesigned "genderfluid" characters repeating the artist's political slogans ever. Bad coin drives out good.
