I have to clean my folders more often from time to time I find drawings from weeks, but whatever, this is a perfect opportunity to show some of the most significant changes in my verse (according to me). Rarity is Aro-Ace lady with aesthetic attraction regardless of gender (only applicable to her pony version, because RariJack is canon in EG and they can't convince me otherwise and I'm not going to explain why it's very different in the pony world), Spike is a feminine bi gentleman and they have what we might call a queerplanic relationship.
Rarity is one of my favorite characters and even though I'm aro-ace, her vision of her love was too… me. I felt identity with her excessive search for "real love", yep I also went through a phase like this, and then I did not remember any of those "crushes" and quickly went to the next one, it was more of a fantasy, if I told you… I gringe o-o . Basically Rarity is aro-ace because I am and I want my representation damn it!
Ok I proceed to explain the unexpected situation of these two, Rarity is always too focused on her career and although she has had many dates/relationships, most of them can't stand the lifestyle so energy consuming that is Rarity's career, well that and in addition, for someone with such a charming, flirtatious aura, who loves romance and romantic gestures, she was not the most "natural" in the business, it all made sense when she realized her Aro-Ace self, that's why she didn't "what must have felt according to everyone” after experiencing so much in her life, but it was still complicated because she wanted children. After Spike returned from his journey of years and mended his relationship with his oldest friends (especially Twilight, that's a complicated story for another day, let's just say Spike went through a rebellious phase) he also began to strengthen his friendship with Rarity (long conversations and apologies), forming a strong bond, spending quiet afternoons painting each other's hooves/claws, Spike learning how to style Rarity's hair and she polishing his scales, spa sessions, being sassy and sarcastic together, judging everyone because we know that neither of us likes the idea of getting dirty, reading magazines, Shopping!!!! Appreciation of their jobs/careers, etc. Basically fabulous besties.
Of course, Spike's surprise was huge when he returned from his work trip to find her friend with a baby, which was hers, but Rariy was never pregnant… when I said that Rarity did a lot trying to "find herself", I mean BOY SHE DID A LOT OF STUFF. The other parent of the baby did not want anything with this and if Rarity kept the secret the baby was all hers. It was unexpected but the unicorn couldn't help to love with the little girl with just one sight, her little girl, Darling Miracle Gem.
Although surprised, all her loved ones were happy for her and offered to help in whatever she needed (Spike and the CMC had the most flexible hours and took care of the girl, but he was Darling's main babysitter and her favorite uncle, obviously the favorite aunt's was SweetieBelle). But in a few years the rumors, the exhaustion and Rarity's stubbornness of wanting to "be able to do everything" had horrible consequences for her health and her hair began to fall out due to stress, she had to cut it to disguise the parts a bit. bald spots and comfort. Twilight's theory is that since Spike's birth was forced with magic, it is possible that he has affinities with it, making the phenomenon of fertilization and egg formation so fast and unusual more logical.
Here they are both exhausted after days of juggling household chores, taking care of 5-year-old Darling and trying not to get her away from the egg (Rarity regretted telling her that it's possibly her new sibling, Darling wanted to carry the egg all the time), making a improvised nest with rocks, gems and fire Spike to keep it warm, and watching life grow inside it, not to mention talking (freaking out) about what to do.
When he was finally born, oh it was magical. These two were a teary mess at their little baby, their Diamond, and decided they wanted this, to start a family, not marriage, not a romantic relationship, just love for their children and their strong affection for each other. Maybe not your typical family, but they were happy, not to mention that Darling was the happiest because it would mean she would have siblings and Uncle Spike would live with them. Adult Darling calls Spike pa, dad, pops, papa dragon, but to tease him she calls him daddy Spikey-Wikey, and she loves being a big sister, plus a future artist, with the total supports of her parents.
Currently, although Rarity and Spike are single, they are not a couple, nor are they married, they live together. Spike has his comics job along with Mina so he can work from home and takes care of the housework, Rarity has her fashion empire with several supervisors in the stores and her home base in Ponyville (delegating is the solution to a lot of work people!), both have their own rooms (sometimes they sleep in the same bed because they can't stand the cold or they went to the wrong room after hard work), and both decided to have more children, conceived in the same way as Diamond, because sex even if is exclusive to having babies is a big no-no, NOPE, they don't have that kind of attraction or desire for each other. Although it is true that maybe they hug each other a lot, maybe a little kiss on the cheek, gifts, or a "date" from time to time when they feel extra affectionate, but Nope, just that, please don't insinuate anything else, they love each other like platonic soulmates, but not in that way. However this unusual family is very happy.

Although Sparity will always have a special little secret place in my heart, and yes, it's a problematic ship portray in some ways, but don't give me that crap when I see others shipping crazier things in a bad way, but people are hypocritical especially when popular artists do Shipping art that could be considered problematic if you think about it, but again people make exceptions and don't say a word, you know what I'm talking about.
I like these two more as best friends who wanted to have children and start a family, but their relationship with each other is totally non-love-romantic and/or sexually attraction. They chose each other because they understood their needs and are comfortable with each other.
