Description:

I'll explain why Cozy Glow being the antagonist of Series 8 of MLP didn't work.

1. Her motivations. What are Cozy's motivations for her to drain magic from Equestria? It doesn't seem to be explained properly. I know it's called a "twist villain", which brings up my next reason.

2. Cozy's actions prior to School Raze. Before School Raze, we saw Cozy befriend the Cutie Mark Crusaders and attend the School of Friendship. How does that in any way work as "build-up" to being the "twist villain"? If it was considered to be all an act, the way that Cozy's actions played out, it seemed very real to me, not helping the fact that Cozy didn't drop any hints or did any foreshadowing that told us that was all an "act".

In conclusion: Cozy's turn to evil came out of nowhere and felt forced. The writers could've just simply had the bigoted Chancellor Neighsay the true villain of School Raze with him using Cozy Glow as his minion, and after Neighsay betrays her, Cozy could have a nice redemption arc.

Cozy Glow belongs to Hasbro.

The whole Cozy story arc would've been vindicated if the series finale had her, Grogar, Tirek and Chrysalis plotting to defeat the ponies and take over the world, only to find that the friendship they form is worth more than any empire or revenge, and start to make amends with their old foes. And at the very end of the episode, with everyone having learned a valuable lesson, Twilight quietly thanks Cozy Glow for her service to Equestria.

It's the perfect explanation why they put Cozy in Tartarus right next to Tirek! It would even explain why she acted so over the top evil to get sent there!
