Grandpa Gilbert is an old Griffon from Griffinstone and one of Grandpa Gruff's best friends, along with the other elders of Griffinstone. He's also the namesake grandfather of Gilbert and the father of his grandson's dad. He's a merchant elder who never resists a challenge. He enjoys traveling and collecting special items in their course. He's been teaching his namesake grandson all of the tricks and techniques ever since he was a cub. Though, considering what his grandson discovers and what he discovers, it's clear that young Gilbert isn't a very good listener. Sometimes, the old Griffon can be kind of strict and grouchy but very soft at the same time. In his younger years, he had a rather strange habit of looking for trouble and others to argue with. One thing he and Grandpa Gruff have in common is the fact that they both like to cause trouble, tease and give hard times to their loved ones every once in a while.
Whenever Grandpa Gilbert isn't out of town, he spends most of his time hanging out with his friends. He often tries to find love interests for Gruncle Gonsod and Grandpa Gruff, the two and only bachelors of their friend group, by either putting them on dating games or nudging them to go and talk to some unmarried creatures (peers, of course) he knows. While he sees it as him helping them 'kindle their flame', and being a good friend to them, his two friends don't exactly appreciate him shoving relationships to them and both reject his suggestions each time, declaring that they don't need spouses to make them happy and that they'll decide when they're ready for these things… If they ever decide that is.
