The self-proclaimed spirit of Dark Order, a stallion of potent magic and being, older than the Princesses, but is not one to intervene unless it is to his benefit. His talent is unknown, mostly because he doesn't have a cutie mark, instead there is a gaping hole through his body where it should be.
He is very cunning and powerful, but everything he does is for his goals or to fix mistakes ponies make in the world (e.g.: After the events of The Mysterious Mare-Do-Well, there were some foals that despaired like so >>13452 he took them to speak with over the reason behind heroes, and that they only die when forgotten, and they can be the greatest symbols of hope. the pep talk later gave that filly her cutie mark). He also can be very cruel to get the desired effect he wishes (e.g.: In Ponyville Confidential, Malevolence appears enraged at the libel upon himself and confronts Diamond Tiara. After a few choice words, Malevolence uses a spell that completely removes her cutie mark).
Despite all his power, he searches the world for powerful magical artifacts, and then absorbs them through the hole in his flank, the most significant being the Alicorn Amulet.
He holds a heavy animosity towards Celestia, but not Luna, in fact, he tries to keep himself from looking at Luna. He tolerates Discord to a degree, but made his appearance in Ponyville at the god of chaos's return, beating down and berating the Mane 6 in an attempt to snap them out of his control. To Nightmare, he sees an adjunct for more power, and tricks it by offering to create a body for it — which works — while taking its memory and most of its power in the process, leaving a black alicorn filly (yes yes, Nyx. I know.) Years ago, he took Sombra as an apprentice, and after some time, was amused at the student's actions and their effect on his being. Concerning Chrysalis and the changelings, he utterly despises them for reasons only he knows, and takes pleasure in their suffering. He especially hates it when Chrysalis referred to him as "Father".
He knows many things in history, and has no qualms about correcting others when he was probably there to witness it. And he acts very casual to Gearhead, mockingly calling him "a cog in the great scheme", something that the old pegasus REALLY doesn't like.
In EQG, Malevolence is a gun-toting cape-and-hood-and-facemask vigilante that fights the gangs around the city, although he himself has been moonlighting crime as well. He has crossed paths with the police before and, most significantly, Madame Do-Well, the city's heroine, someone he really enjoys fighting and at times flirting with. His most iconic attire semblance is his belt buckle: a horned skull with garnet eyes and angel wings, the Nephilim Amulet (human version of the Alicorn Amulet). the Amulet itself grants vitality, endurance, strength, virility, agility, and power, but it cannot be worn excessively due to the side effect of madness, and it takes over an hour before the amulet can be used by the same person again. His secret identity is a mystery as well…
