Unfortunately, life can be very hard and one can be the closest.
For Twilight Sparkle, it's her husband, Ryoku Memori. After a few centuries of peace, there was another memory problem that was detected at the same time as a problem between the species of Equestria. Ryoku went to his dimension to fix the memories of the species as Twilight tries to find a way to fix the problem. After a few weeks the cash issue was resolved, Ryoku did not return.
After many years, Twilight was still waiting for him with hope to see him again, but unfortunately, history repeated itself. Everyone had forgotten the day he was gone, as if he never existed, and the issue of species slowly came to the surface. Twilight, out of disappointment and anger against her people, decided to design a crystal that will nullify all magic in this world which she hopes peace will be restored to, and also bring back her husband who disappeared because of this species problem.
Unfortunately, the crystal did not work as expected, the magic disappeared, but the crystal broke into three parts and dispersed in Equestria. But she no longer had any magic, nor did she see her husband return. She was reaching a stage where she had lost everything: her magic, the trust of her people, her hope, … her husband.
Rumor has it that the crystal consumed her upon activation due to her being an alicorn. Others, closer to her, just know what happened that night, after she lost all hope, in her room.
"Last Sunshine" is a series transcribing their "last" ray of sunshine that put the palm on their hearts.
