Ok, so, I've been sick and tired of taking forever to draw my comics and being a shitty perfectionist. After a year and some months making ground on my very long art to-do list with few additions, a wave of new ideas hit me.
I've been really eager to get this comic series up and running, but I simply get too fatigued with the art style I've developed over the years drawing ponies.
I figured I would try doing a chibi-style…ish… style, something that would let me pump out comics quickly and sketchy. After several failed attempts this year, I saw a few images that reminded me of my roots in my first comics way before my time as a brony. I did some digging and instead of being disgusted looking at my very old art, I saw the potential and realized what I was trying to do.
.
So I combined some of those ancient care-free concepts and basic shapes with what I do in details today and produced this Fluttershy relatively quickly. And… I think I LOVE IT! I wanted to use my attention to quirky details and let them shine instead of hinging them on complex body design. Also something I did way back was a "comic generator" where I created a lot of preset poses and things to let me piece together a comic more quickly. I tried doing this with my usual art and it doesn't work as well because my approach to pony bodies is too strange and complex and I struggle with initial shape designs. Plus i always found something to adjust anyway. Also wanted to see how this turns out if I cut a third art program from my comic process.
While I won't stop trying to develop my normal "main" style, I'm planning to make some comics with this style and see if it works out.
