As much as I hate Starlight Glimmer as a character, I won't deny that her design is nice.
And the way she was first introduced with her already corrupted village was very unsettling, even for a show aimed at a younger audience.

Those forced smiles, the way the residents of the village seemed to miss their cutie marks, only to discover that Starlight stole them.
Replacing them with an = sign.

All of it was very well done and very unsettling.
But my love for Starlight fell the moment her backstory was explained, and how she appeared more and more in the show.
I feel like, given Starlight's backstory (of Sunburst leaving to study magic and deciding to force ponies to like her) Would do better in the Equestria girl's universe.

IMO, Sunset Shimmer and Starlight Glimmer should have swapped places :3

But, I wanted to recreate that scene of Twilight first coming to the village.
With the residents smiling wide, and Starlight explaining how things operate there under her control.
