Welcome to another instalment of the "Random Character Art" series, wherein I redesign a random character from my roster that has never been depicted here before, and today, it is the turn of Golden Years!
Now, this was a FULL redesign, as this was originally an earth pony stallion with a somewhat garish colour palette- and rather typical of my early ocs. You know, before I really got set on the pastel and more natural palettes. I changed him into a stag to help address the lack of them in my roster.
He is a mild mannered stag, raised in Equestria itself, and is the founder of a nationwide charitable organisation¹ that works with the elderly- supplying the infirm with food, company, and medical care in the comfort of heir own homes- and in addition, will transport those in need to doctor's surgeries and hospitals for appointments.
Even though his own role is administrative, it is and always has been his fervent belief that noone, no matter who they are or where they are from, should have ever have to suffer alone in their twilight years. Even though Equestria has free healthcare, it is a new system, and thus does not yet have systems in place for "at home" care.
This is something that has naturally caught the eye of Princess Celestia in particular, and as she was the one that ratified the "Equestrian National Health" act, this organisation is something that she obviously wishes to roll into the EHS when possible.
As for Golden Years, he is well spoken, considerate, thoughtful, intelligent, affable, and friendly in that respectful, old fashioned manner that just clicks well with the elderly.
Originally from a very wealthy family of lumber barons, he decided to use his cut of his inheritance to set up his foundation to better serve the aged people of Equestria. His family were all on board with this decision and have supported him at every turn, even injecting their own money into the project where required.
When it comes to more personal matters, Golden Years is aromantic and asexual. He has never even been kissed, and he couldn't care less about pleasures of the flesh.² For him, he sees his duty of care to those less fortunate than him as his life's work- and as far as he is concerned, that means the world to him.
