So, yeah, I took a hiatus…and I think I'm still on hiatus 💀, but I may start posting some more stuff again. Man, I had to take a break. Even though I love my next-gen fan-babies to death, I had simply gotten burnt out at the time. As I've mentioned in a previous post, my brain moved too fast, flooded with hundreds of ideas I've had of this next generation au since I was young, to where my hands couldn't keep up. I had so much to write about and draw about. And ngl, I had got bored at the excessive world building (the last thing I left off on; not trying to say I hate it or won't write more of it, btw), because all I wanted to do was draw whatever with order, or no rhyme or reason. I was trying to build up to certain events and plot points instead of getting to it when I get to it. And it seems, having more of a structured way of posting stuff got me more attention than just posting my ocs willy-nilly like I did when I was younger.
Other reasons: I don't know if I am proud of the ships now. My next-gen was mainly inspired by most of the ships that were popular when I had first created my ng as a kid. And now that I'm older, I can see a problem with some of them. For instance, Spike x Rarity. Even a few years back when I was an older teen, I tried to make sense of the ship, but didn't know how to write or handle a relationship like that properly without it being WEIRD! I should've just left the ship in the dust. Additionally, as I got older, I found myself liking ships that I liked better, like Spike x Gabby, Rarity x Luna, Twilight x Tempest, etc, etc… and then I thought to myself… “should I revamp my entire ng?!,” but it's just I don't want to get rid of the characters I grew to love over the years. And, also, that means that I would have to practically redo or retcon EVERYTHING 😭 (at least there would be a little less drama and angst 💀). I understand I can copy and paste my own designs. But I'll see what I'll have to do.
Anyway, another reason why I've been gone is COLLEGE 😭 and also, after mlp g4 being over for 6 years now, I sort of began to naturally lose interest. Additionally, something had happened, like DA using art for A.I. or something, which inclined some of my favorite artists who inspired me to keep going (namely Lopoddity and Kiana Mai) left or also grew up from the franchise (because they got a life, unlike me, lol). And because the next-gen hype died in 2020, I also felt demotivated to keep going, cuz I thought no one cared anymore or weren't interested in it still. Now, I'm not trying to say I'm ungrateful for the attention I had gained when I was active, and I wasn't asking for much either. I am very thankful! I guess I wished there was more engagement, y'know. Like character Q&A's and such. Fandom culture is really starting to die, isn't it? I wish it wasn't.
Idk, I'm just blabbing on at this point. If I continue on with my story, I continue on. If I don't, I don't 🤷🏾♀️. I mean, that's all I have to say after all these years. Only time will tell what I do with my ng. But now, I learned that I'ma have fun with my work first! :))
