At approximately 3:30am, the 18 floating lifeboats of the RMS Titanic bob in the ice-cold water as RMS Carpathia arrives on the scene.
By 4:10am, the first lifeboat is safely evacuated onboard the rescue ship. By 8:30am, all alive have been rescued.
Boats 1, 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12, 13, and 16 were brought aboard Carpathia, with the rest (including all four collapsible lifeboats) set adrift.
705 survivors were saved from the sea, leaving 1496 bodies in the sea or scattered around the fresh wreckage 4 kilometers bellow.
