Just a little dose of Sunset motivation, for all your motivational Sunset needs!
Figured it was about time to draw her again… Actually, I’ve been seeing a LOT of Sunset Shimmer artwork in my feed this past month or so. Apparently there was a huge art collab celebrating the 10 year anniversary of a music video she features in, which I was never informed of, and thus never got to participate myself… Oh well! Sunset isn’t necessarily a character I’m gaga over anyway (wake me up for the ‘So Much More to Me’ collab…)
That being said tho, I try to draw most of these characters as often as I can and/or feel the urge to need to. And if I’ve learned anything from my years in the fandom, it’s that a lot of people really, really seem to dig Sunset Shimmer, and understandably so! She’s a pretty solid character with a satisfying arc. Ya love to see it… and she’s a knockout to boot! Whenever I do get the chance to draw her, it is quite fun.
Her appearance here is based on that of the EqG ‘Choose Your Own Ending’ shorts; ‘All the World’s Offstage’ and ‘Opening Night’, in which she was a director and stagehand for a school play (or something, it’s been quite a while since I’ve watched any of the EqG digital series(es))
I wanted to convey a little interaction you’d likely have with Miss Shimmer before going onstage to do a big performance.
What are the odds you’d nail your lines and perform the best you’ve ever done after a little pep talk from Sunset? What are the odds you’d get totally distracted by how aflutter your heart is, especially after she gave you a wink, and called you “killer”? Oooooh!~. I guess it's for your imagination to decide ;)
Call me crazy, but I actually dig the stagehand look; literally just a plain black tee and leggings, but idk. There’s beauty in its simplicity. Sunset’s another one of those characters that rocks basically anything she wears. Plus, I figured it was an outfit not many artists have represented, so there is that.
