I love to imagine Applejack keeping one of Rainbow's molten pinions safe in some sort of little shrine, taking it out and lovingly examining it over and over whenever her wife's at work, asleep or anywhere but next to her. Sometimes, she even carefully carries it with her when she goes wandering in her orchard to relax, think, breathe — she lets the wind caress her face and comb through her mane and tail, feeling as weightless and free as if she could fly just like her soulmate. Rainbow has spotted her more than once as she was enjoying herself like this, but has never interrupted her nor mentioned it to her — she understands how sacred moments like those must feel for her earthbound wife, and cherishes each memory of seeing AJ coming into contact with her own element, the limitless sky.

Can you tell I was listening to a '90s Disney films soundtrack while drawing my beloved orange farmpony? 'Cause I sure was, and couldn't stop picturing AJ and RD as basically every main couple ARGH I just love them so much çç


Anyway! Experimented a bit with oil paint, so that's why it looks rather messy and inexperienced heh it was my first ever try and of course it had to be with one of my fave MLP characters and a hint of another one of them :3 I may have forgotten the heart-shaped white patch on her chest çç bUT I'm quite proud of how I managed her pose and her wind-blown mane heh
