This scene depicts the event known as "Sparkle's Charge", an attack lead by Solar General Twilight Sparkle at the Battle of Fillysburg, July 3rd, 1863. The charge, famously considered to be the last stand of the Solar Empire, would become the most costly attack of the Equestrian Civil War, with over 7000 Solar casualties. Sparkle, although severely wounded during the battle, would live to see the founding of the New Lunar Republic two months later after the defeat of Princess Celestia, before finally succumbing to her wounds in the winter of 1865."
